Israel, Palestine & the New Wailing Wall
We are sending out a call for prayer for peace in the West Bank, not just for Israel, but for the Palestinians too and the injustices being done with the steel wall separating both countries.
CALLING OUT A NATION OF BLESSING
We read in Genesis 12:1-3, God's call to Abraham:
The LORD had said to Abram, "Leave your country, your people and your father's household and go to the land I will show you.
"I will make you into a great nation
and I will bless you;
I will make your name great,
and you will be a blessing.
I will bless those who bless you,
and whoever curses you I will curse;
and all peoples on earth
will be blessed through you."
However, what if the nation that is supposed to bless the earth becomes a nation where they themselves impose injustice? What do the people of God do then? As follows of the Messiah, we are called to "bless those who persecute us" and the "love yours enemies" by Jesus himself.
Our Call To Call Israel Higher
Archbishop Desmond Tutu, after visiting the Occupied Palestinian Territories declared that "it reminded me so much of what happened to us black people in South Africa" and that he saw "the humilitation of the Palestinians at checkpoints and roadblocks, suffering like us when young white police officers prevented us from moving about".
We believe that we are here to encourage prayer, love and peace on both sides—Jews and Muslims alike, but also to encourage a healthy discourse on our place as followers of Jesus, ushering in "the restoration of all things" and bringing justice for all people, not just Jews and Christians. It is our prayer that we call out Israel once again to be known as a nation of blessing around the earth and for countries like America who side with her (and the followers of Christ living here) to call out the justice and goodness of YHWH out of her! For if there is any cursing coming, it comes from God himself—but we as His children are called to love our neighbors and our enemies as we love ourselves.
